Business Analyst/Technical Writer
FastChannel Network
February 2003 to July 2004
FastChannel Network has built the largest asset management and distribution network for the advertising industry. Studios and production houses upload print, radio, and television ads to the network, which allows agencies and advertisers to traffic the ads to publishers and stations throughout the world.
I was hired by FastChannel's Product Management group as a technical writer to produce help documentation for its Video Server products. My responsibilities included:
- managing the online and print documentation set for the Video Server product line
- interviewing subject matter experts to create development and release documentation
- developing templates and online forms for support documentation
Within the first six months, the focus of my work became primarily requirements gathering, specification writing, and project management. My title was changed to Business Analyst. My responsibilities included:
- interviewing customers, end users, and subject matter experts
- defining business requirements for internal and external products
- developing use cases, workflow diagrams, and state diagrams
- developing mockups for interface designs
- translating business requirements into functional specifications
- analyzing SQL query data to produce reports for product development
- managing project teams and schedules
