Technical Writer
Blueridge Technologies (now mindwrap, inc.)
August 1998 to September 1999
Blueridge Technologies provides enterprise document management and workflow solutions that unite legacy, paper-based, and pure digital information for competitive advantage. Their systems integrate with Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and Informix backends and run on Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and Linux systems.
I was hired by Blueridge as a technical writer and tester. Shortly after starting, I was writing user documentation full-time. My first large project was to write a 270-page user manual for the Optix document management system, using, of all tools, Microsoft Word. My additional responsibilities included:
- updating product announcement templates and content
- initiating and developing a company style guide
- writing test plans and testing releases
