Entering Headlines

There are three fields for headline information when you add or edit a news item:

Headline Fields

The Headline is the title for the news item. It appears in headline groups, in your news archive, and on the news item itself. This field is required.

The headline may contain simple HTML tags, such as <em> for italics and <br> for line breaks.

When you enter a headline longer than 80 characters, the Short Headline field becomes available:

Headline Fields with Short Headline Available

Some pages on the BU Web are formatted to show headlines no longer than 80 characters, and you do not want your headline to be truncated automatically. This field is required (when it is available).

You can enter a secondary headline in the Subheading field. This information appears only if your headline groups, news archive, and news item pages have been formatted to display it. This field is optional.
