The News Content Management System (CMS) is a web-based application that allows departments at Boston University to publish news stories on the BU Web. Contributors add stories and administrators approve them. Once a story is approved and its publish date arrives, the story is published on several areas of the department's website. Administrators additionally can manage news topics and user access.
News CMS is used by departments across the University, including departments that maintain a majority of their daily content using the News CMS, such as Athletics and BU Today. The users have a range of computing skills, from content creators used to creating stories in Microsoft Word to administrators with advanced HTML knowledge.
The help system is uncompiled HTML and CSS files, produced with Dreamweaver. The help system is context-sensitive at the page level, so that when the user adds a news story and requests help, help for that screen is displayed.
I wrote the content, created the online help, and worked with developers to create the context-sensitive hooks.
