One of the missions of Networked Information Services is to teach the University community about website development. I developed and taught a course designed to help campus webmasters improve their sites' rankings in the BU Web's search application, powered by Google. The main lessons taught in the course include good coding and adherence to web standards, rather than peddling the usual search engine optimization (SEO) tricks.
Note: The reason I include this course in this section of my portfolio is to demonstrate not only that I can write code, but also that I know how to produce good code that will improve a site's performance.
The audience includes webmasters who publish sites on the BU Web.
I researched the subject matter online and with internal subject matter experts and wrote the content. I used a template designed for Dreamweaver. I developed and validated each page using Dreamweaver's Code View.
Note: The look and feel of the site is based on a template design, which influenced the site's navigation scheme.
