FastChannel Network decided to overhaul its enterprise-wide billing system, which had been built internally several years earlier and was due to be redesigned to improve extensibility and efficiency for the company's growing range of transaction types.

Audience

While the billing system was used primarily by Finance, all departments in the organization were affected by changes to the system, especially Engineering and Sales.

Deliverables

The deliverables included the following documents:

• Project Overview and Scope Agreement
• Business Requirements (148 pages)
• Project Plan

Responsibilities

Together with the lead engineer, I was responsible for managing this four-month project. I interviewed end-users, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to write the Project Overview and Business Requirements documents.
